Czech Republic: Upcoming changes in employment for foreigners from third countries
Starting from July 1, 2024, the Czech Republic’s government will revise the labor market test requirements for employers sponsoring Employee Cards. Sponsoring employers will need to verify that a job vacancy has been submitted and published by the Labor Office. However, they will no longer be obligated to advertise the opening for 10 to 30 days before initiating the hiring process for foreign national workers. The advertising process will vary based on the position opening, the experience level of the advertised role, and other relevant factors. This adjustment will streamline the onboarding process for foreign talent, enabling employers to address internal labor shortages more promptly.

Ireland: Work rights for eligible partners of Irish Employment Permit holders
The Ministers for Justice and Enterprise, Trade, and Employment have announced that eligible spouses and partners of General Employment Permit and Intra-Corporate Transferee Irish Employment Permit holders, who have applied for and have been granted family reunification according to the Non-EEA Family Reunification Policy, will now be registered on a Stamp 1G permission instead of a Stamp 3. This change allows them to take up employment without needing a separate Employment Permit. Additionally, spouses and partners of Critical Skills Employment Permit holders and Researchers on a Hosting Agreement currently holding a Stamp 3, are now eligible for a Stamp 1G too.
Those who already hold the Stamp 3 on their current Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card now have the same conditions as Stamp 1G. They don’t need to apply for a change from Stamp 3 to Stamp 1G or get a new IRP. The amended Stamp 3 permission is effective from May 15, 2024. When renewing their Stamp 3, eligible persons will receive an Irish Residence Permit with Stamp 1G conditions. Additionally, they can provide prospective employers with a letter explaining this temporary arrangement.

Sweden: Possibility to show passport on mobile devices to Migration Agency
The Swedish Migration Agency has released an app, allowing visa free workers and students to identify themselves digitally through a ‘Digital Passport Check’, instead of travelling to the nearest Swedish Embassy to do this.
As such, there is now a pilot scheme in place, where people from 23 different countries are being offered to download the app and identify themselves that way instead.
Once they are in Sweden and have their Swedish Personal number in place, they will be able to use this app to have an e-ID in Sweden.
