United States: Termination of parole programs
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the termination of the parole programs for inadmissible aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, along with their immediate family members. These programs, collectively referred to as the CHNV parole programs, were initially introduced in 2022 and 2023.
The termination of the CHNV parole programs took effect on March 25, 2025. For aliens currently in the United States under these programs, their temporary parole period will end on April 24, 2025, unless the Secretary of Homeland Security makes an individual determination to extend it. Parolees who do not have a lawful basis to remain in the United States following the termination of the CHNV parole programs, must depart the country before their parole termination date.
