Brazil: E-Visa for American, Canadian and Australian nationals required

Starting April 10, 2024, (postponed from January 10, 2024) nationals travelling from Canada, United States and Australia will be required to obtain an e-Visa, before entering the country of Brazil. This is valid for both tourist and business visa purposes. In order to obtain this visa, an application via an online portal will need be submitted, along with a recent passport photo, a completed  questionnaire, and a signed letter from the applicant’s employer.

It is strongly encouraged to apply ahead of  the spring rush when the administration offices will be very busy.

Denmark: Update of Positive List for Graduates and Skilled workers

Starting January 1, 2024, new Positive Lists for graduate and skilled workers have been published. They include professions that currently in shortage of qualified workforce in the country and are updated twice a year. Individuals, who have been offered a job that is listed there, can apply for a Danish residence and work permit based on this scheme. Current holders of permits from the positive list will not be affected even if their job position is removed. They can apply for a renewal of their permits if they continue to meet the general renewal conditions.

The new Positive Lists include 72 job titles for People with Higher Education and 38 job titles for Skilled Work.

Newly added to the Higher Education Positive List are military officers, heads of logistics management, heads of products management, biologists, mechanical engineers, environmental engineers, quality engineers, business intelligence managers, specialist consultants, marketing professionals, information technology programmers and system developers, web developers, system administrators, legal counsel, and communication consultants.

Newly added to the Skilled Work Positive List are plumbers, technical designers, sales consultants, human resources assistants, bricklayers, welders, bodywork metal workers, shipbuilders, service technicians with iron and metal, and industrial mechanics. Removed from this list are professions such as blacksmiths, automatic technical technicians, electronics technicians, and telecommunications technicians.

France: Notice for new salary indexation

France has announced the new salary indexation, that is valid from January 1, 2024.

The requirements are the following:

Gross hourly minimum wage:  €11.65, i.e. a gross monthly amount of €1,766.92 .

 “Employee on Mission” Talent Passport gross salary: 38 165.47 €/year (1.8 times of the minimum salary).

“Qualified Employee” Talent Passport gross salary:  42 406 €/ year (double of the minimum salary).

Change of status from student to employee status gross salary:  31 804.56 €/year (1.5 time the minimum salary) – condition of not publishing an add must be met for this price.

“Highly Qualified Employee/ European Blue Card” Talent Passport gross salary 54 000 €/year – this is not linked to the minimum wage.

Hungary: Limited immigration administration from January 1 to February 29, 2024

Due to the introduction of the new immigration law in Hungary that came into effect on January 1, 2024 (we have informed here), processing of immigration documents will be limited in the time period from January 1 to February 29, 2024.

During this time, only the following services will be taking place:

  • Taking biometric data for applications submitted electronically by December 31, 2023
  • Applications for the replacement or substitution of a document
  • Extension of an expiring certificate entitling its holder to temporary residence
  • Extension of the validity of an immigration permit document
  • Applications of EEA nationals for a registration certificate or for a permanent residence card
  • Applications of family members of EEA nationals for the issuance or extension of a residence card or a long-term residence card.
