United States: Humanitarian program for Ukrainian refugees

Joseph Biden, the U.S. president, announced the creation of a new humanitarian program called ‘’Uniting for Ukraine’’. Ukrainian refugees that are eligible for this program, must:

    • Be a resident of Ukraine from February 11, 2022
    • Have a U.S. based sponsor
    • Be fully vaccinated and meet other health requirements
    • Pass all applicable screening and security checks

Eligible Ukrainians will be considered on a case-by-case basis for humanitarian parole for up to two years in the U.S. Once paroled, they will be eligible for work authorization.

Thailand: Test requirement for vaccinated travelers

On April 22, 2022, rescinded the requirement for fully vaccinated travelers to undergo the RT-PCR Covid-19 test upon arrival in Thailand. This will be effective from May 1, 2022.

The revised requirements are as follows:

  • Proof of pre-payment for one night of accommodation at government-approved hotel: SHA Extra Plus (SHA++) or Alternative Quarantine accommodation on day one, including the expenses for two Covid-19 tests.
    • A RT-PCR test upon arrival and a rapid antigen test kit (ATK) on day five will be no longer required.
  • Minimum insurance coverage required to enter Thailand will be reduced from USD 20,000 to USD 10,000.
    • Thais and foreign expatriates under Thailand’s national healthcare coverage are exempt from this requirement.
  • Travelers who have not been fully vaccinated will be required to undergo the RT-PCR Covid-19 test upon arrival (day one) and on day four / five of their stay. They will also be subjected to five-day quarantine at the Alternative Quarantine accommodation approved by the government.

Existing requirements remain unchanged:

  1. Thailand Pass, which can be applied for here.
  2. Certificate of Covid-19 Vaccination / Recovery.

Nigeria: Revised entry requirements

The government introduced a provisional travel protocol revising the previous restrictions that were foreigners arriving in Nigeria.

New protocol:

  • Fully vaccinated passengers traveling to Nigeria are not required to carry out Covid-19 PCR tests before boarding Nigeria-bound flights.
  • Fully vaccinated arrivals are not required to carry out post Arrival PCR / Rapid Antigen Test.
  • Unvaccinated / partially vaccinated passengers traveling to Nigeria are required to take a Covid-PCR test 48 hours before departure and undergo days two and seven post-arrival PCR tests.
  • All inbound passengers must register online via Nigeria International Travel Portal.
