Payment of Electricity Bill (CFE)

If you have just relocated to Mexico, here is how you can pay for your electricity service with La Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) – Federal Electricity Commission-

Payment for the service is bi-monthly and can be made from any website of the following local banks:

  • CitiBanamex
  • BBVA
  • Banorte
  • HSBC
  • Inbursa
  • Santander
  • American Express

To pay your electricity bill online (cfe.mx) click on this link and follow the instructions below:

  1. Create a username and password.
  2. Enter the 12-digit service number, the name of the account holder and the amount to be paid that appear on the electricity bill.
  3. You can pay with a debit or credit card.
  4. Keep in mind that electricity bills are paid bi-monthly.

How to Pay the Electricity Bill in Banks, Convenience Stores and Pharmacies in Mexico

  • Bring your original receipt.
  • At any bank you can pay in cash or with a debit or credit card, as long as it is a card from the same bank.
  • Convenience Stores: Walmart, Soriana, Chedraui, La Comer, Bodega Aurrera, 7 Eleven – You can pay in cash.
  • Drog stores: Farmacias del Ahorro, Farmacias Guadalajara, Farmacias Benavides – payment can be made in cash.vo.

Online Payment for Water Services

Below, we share with you the steps you can take to pay for water service in CDMX with El Sistema de Aguas de la Ciudad de Mexico, SACMEX (Public System Water of Mexico City)

To do this you need:

  • Enter the 16-digit account number that appears on the receipt you receive every two months.
  • You can pay with a debit or credit card.

Payment in Banks, Self-Service Stores and Pharmacies

  • Bring your original receipt.
  • At any bank you can pay in cash or with a debit or credit card (if it is from the same bank).
  • Supermarkets: Walmart, Soriana, Chedraui, La Comer, Bodega Aurrera, Suburbia, SAM’s, Palacio de Hierro, Fresko, Oxxo, Extra, 7 Eleven, Cicle K, Extra. – You can pay in cash.
  • Pharmacies: Farmacias del Ahorro, Farmacias Guadalajara, Farmacias Benavides. – You can pay in cash.

How to Pay the Gas Bill

Gas service in Mexico can be provided in two ways: natural gas or stationary gas. Each has a different dynamic. To make your payment for this service in your new home, you can follow the steps below.

First, identify what type of gas service your new address provides:

  • Natural gas, or
    Stationary gas.

    The payment for natural gas service is monthly, so you will receive the bill monthly according to the company. For online payment, identify the company on your bill. ( Naturgy, Gas natural del Norte o EcoGas)

Please contact your landlord so they can tell you which gas company is right for you and guide you through payment methods.
