Minimum salary increases for Belgium

On January 1, 2018, the minimum base salary in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels will increase for several work permit categories.Minimum salary increases for Belgium

  • Type “B” work permits for highly-skilled foreign workers: the minimum base salary will increase from 40,124 euros to 40,972 euros annually
  • Senior management and executives: the minimum base salary will increase from 66,942 euros to 68,356 euros annually
  • EU Blue Card holders: the minimum base salary will increase from 51,882 euros to 52,978 euros annually


Key considerations

Employers and individuals who seek to apply for new work permits and EU Blue Cards from January 1 should provide sufficient evidence that they meet the new requirements.

There is no salary increase for individuals applying for work permits as trainees or specialized technicians.
